The Hub Pro Electric team recently completed a residential electrical service project in Woodstock, Georgia, that turned out to be far more involved than initially expected.
What began as a service call for the installation of a new chandelier and a few minor electrical concerns quickly developed into a comprehensive troubleshooting and repair project involving multiple areas of the home. As is often the case in residential electrical work, hidden issues were discovered once our electricians began a detailed inspection of the property’s electrical system.
One of the highlights of this project was the installation of a beautiful custom chandelier above the kitchen island. While the fixture appeared simple in design, it was a high-quality statement piece that carried significant value to the homeowner. The chandelier had been specially ordered from China, and the homeowner had waited more than three months for its arrival. Because of its importance, our team took extra care to ensure the fixture was installed safely, securely, and without any damage.
The installation was completed with precision and attention to detail, and the final result exceeded expectations. Once installed, the chandelier immediately became the focal point of the kitchen, adding a modern and elegant touch to the entire space.
During our inspection, we also identified several electrical issues throughout the home that required correction.
One issue involved a bathroom receptacle that was not protected by a GFCI device. Because bathrooms are considered wet locations under National Electrical Code requirements, GFCI protection is essential for preventing electrical shock hazards. Our electricians replaced the existing outlet with a properly installed GFCI receptacle that meets current safety standards.
Another significant issue involved a wall-mounted television. During troubleshooting, we discovered that a previous installer had accidentally driven a mounting screw into the wall wiring while installing the TV bracket. The damaged wire caused the outlet behind the television to lose power.
Diagnosing the problem was particularly challenging because the damaged section of wiring was concealed inside the wall and could not be accessed directly. After extensive testing and circuit tracing, our team determined that the safest and most efficient solution was to install a new wiring path from the nearest suitable power source. This portion of the project alone required approximately two hours of troubleshooting, planning, and installation work.
As part of our comprehensive electrical inspection, we also evaluated the home’s main electrical panel. During this review, we discovered that three breakers had been wired improperly. In several locations, multiple conductors had been placed under a single breaker terminal in a manner that did not comply with National Electrical Code requirements.
Our electricians corrected all improper breaker connections, rebuilt the affected wiring terminations, and performed final testing to verify that every circuit was operating safely and correctly.
Although this project initially appeared to be a relatively simple service call, it ultimately involved custom fixture installation, electrical troubleshooting, wiring repairs, code corrections, and panel improvements. The entire project required approximately four hours to complete and demanded a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail.
At the conclusion of the project, the homeowner was extremely pleased with the quality of workmanship, professionalism, cleanliness, and overall service provided by the Hub Pro Electric team. In appreciation of the work completed, the homeowner even provided a generous tip to our technicians.
