The Hub Pro Electric team recently completed a full electrical service upgrade for a residential property in Woodstock, Georgia, including the replacement of both the exterior meter box and the home’s main electrical panel.
Projects of this scale involve much more than simply removing an old panel and installing a new one. A complete meter and main panel replacement requires careful planning, proper sequencing, electrical inspections, utility coordination, and precise execution to ensure the entire electrical service is upgraded safely and correctly.
Throughout this project, Hub Pro Electric worked closely with the homeowner, general contractor, electrical inspector, and Georgia Power to coordinate each phase of the upgrade.
Installing the New Meter Box
The first phase of the project involved replacing and upgrading the home’s exterior meter equipment.
Our electricians installed the new meter box outside the property in accordance with the project requirements and applicable electrical standards, preparing the service for the transition from the existing equipment to the new system.
Proper meter installation is a critical part of an electrical service upgrade because this is where utility power enters the property’s electrical system.
Once this portion of the work was completed, our team moved forward with the installation of the new main electrical panel.
New Main Electrical Panel Installation
The new main electrical panel was installed inside the garage and prepared for the eventual transfer of the home’s existing circuits.
Careful planning during this stage was essential. The new equipment had to be properly positioned, installed, and prepared so the transition could be completed efficiently once the utility service was transferred.
Electrical Inspection and Approval
After the new meter equipment and main panel were installed and prepared, the next step was coordinating the required electrical inspection.
The inspector carefully reviewed the installation and approved the work completed by the Hub Pro Electric team, allowing the project to proceed to the utility phase.
Passing inspection is an important milestone in projects like this because utility work cannot simply be performed independently of the required permitting and inspection process.
Coordinating With Georgia Power
Following inspection approval, Georgia Power technicians arrived at the property to complete their portion of the project.
The existing electrical service was disconnected, and the incoming utility service was transferred to the newly installed meter equipment.
Coordination during this stage is extremely important because the electrician, inspector, utility company, contractor, and homeowner must all work within the proper sequence to minimize downtime and ensure that every step is completed safely.
Once Georgia Power completed the service transfer and power was ready to be restored through the new equipment, our electricians could begin the final phase.
Transferring the Existing Circuits to the New Panel
With the new electrical service in place, the Hub Pro Electric team transferred the home’s existing wiring from the old electrical panel into the newly installed main panel.
The old breakers were replaced with new breakers, circuits were properly organized and connected, and the electrical system was carefully inspected and tested.
Our electricians verified the connections and circuit operation to ensure that the home’s electrical system was functioning safely and reliably through the new equipment.
The result was a completely updated main electrical service with a new exterior meter box, new main electrical panel, and new breakers.
More Than Just a Panel Replacement
A full electrical service upgrade is very different from a typical residential service call.
It requires technical expertise, knowledge of electrical codes, careful project management, inspection approval, utility coordination, and precise scheduling.
A mistake or delay during any stage can affect the entire project and potentially leave a property without electrical service longer than necessary.
For this Woodstock project, Hub Pro Electric coordinated every phase carefully—from the initial meter and panel installation through inspection, Georgia Power service transfer, circuit migration, and final testing.
The project was successfully completed, leaving the property with updated electrical equipment and a professionally installed main electrical system ready to serve the home’s electrical needs.
At Hub Pro Electric, we believe quality electrical work begins with proper planning and ends only after every connection, circuit, and component has been carefully checked.
